Natural Resources Wales has deployed specialized low ground pressure tracked machinery from Devon manufacturer Loglogic to clear invasive vegetation across more than 1,800 acres of Anglesey fens.

The wetlands restoration project targets more than 750 hectares of fragile fenland across Anglesey, marking the largest project of its kind in Wales. Conservation teams require equipment capable of traversing wet ground without disrupting delicate plant communities or causing structural damage to the substrate.

To address these site constraints, Natural Resources Wales acquired a Softrak Cut and Collect system manufactured by Cullompton based Loglogic. The tracked vehicle operates in standing water up to 350 millimeters deep while maintaining low ground pressure. This configuration allows operators to cut and gather unwanted plant material in locations inaccessible to standard agricultural or forestry equipment.

Loglogic Sales and Marketing Director Graham Mitchell completed on site operator training for local conservation personnel.

"Natural Resources Wales selected Loglogic to provide machinery capable of clearing invasive growth while preserving rare native flora," Mitchell stated. "Wetland management requires equipment that can access sensitive terrain without causing ground disturbance. The Softrak low ground pressure system and tracked undercarriage provide access to saturated environments that standard machinery would destroy."

The equipment has seen prior deployment on conservation sites including the Somerset Levels and the Norfolk Broads. Operations on Anglesey support the recovery of native species, including the Marsh Fritillary butterfly, Southern Damselfly, otters, Fly Orchids, and Yellowhammers.

Loglogic designs and builds specialized machinery for reed harvesting, wetland management, and low impact operations on sensitive terrain, supplying equipment for conservation applications worldwide.
